Rushmere, Virginia is a historic plantation on the banks of the Rappahannock River. The estate was established in 1650 by Colonel John Carter, a prominent planter and politician. Over the centuries, Rushmere has been home to a number of notable figures, including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and James Monroe.
