Just took a glance at the forecast models for Tuesday/Wednesday and looks like there could be enough moisture/instability in place ahead of a fast moving and strong cold front to trigger a few thunderstorms over sections of Minnesota, the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Iowa from Tuesday into Wednesday. How fast this front moves thru is still kind of up in the air right now, so this forecast could change. But the latest right now from the SPC is a ***SLIGHT RISK*** for severe thunderstorms on day 3 from 7am Tuesday thru 7am Wednesday, this risk area includes far southwest Minnesota, also includes parts of South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa. Not really looking for a tornado outbreak at this point..But more of a wind/hail threat. Again though this could change seeing that we are 2-3 days from the event.
Getting some much needed rains here in Duluth this weekend..Nice to see. The wind is howling off Lake Superior, have had wind gusts easily over 45 mph Saturday Night and so far This Morning.. and Gale Warnings are up for Western Lake Superior Today .
